Analyze the leader’s position in relation to a minimum of five of the course’s primary themes
leadership ethics
emotional intelligence—despite her youth, she consistently exhibits maturity. She always thinks before she speaks and is always respectful in her interactions with others. She is well aware that various people would react differently to the same thing. She has earned the respect of her peers by demonstrating her work ethic during her years as a bedside nurse and beyond. Example of a Nurse Leadership Interview Essay
Leadership style- democratic leadership style. She is receptive to new ideas and perspectives and has no qualms about soliciting assistance and delegating responsibilities when necessary.
Communication—Throughout her career, she has been a proponent of open communication. Having open communication and effective communication skills with coworkers, patients, and their families can assist in resolving issues and most likely prevent many others.
Conflict resolution- she is forthright in her attempts to resolve disputes both with herself and with others. She takes a non-threatening attitude to this. Depending on the nature of the issue, she employs a variety of different approaches of conflict resolution, and certain situations may require a combination of them. She discovered early in her career as a manager that avoiding disagreement does not work; in fact, it exacerbates conflict, which erupts and impairs patient care. When people are in disagreement, she acts as a mediator, listening to both sides and assisting them in reaching a fair conclusion. She employs a combination of negotiation, collaboration, conciliation, mediation, and, if necessary, arbitration. Example of a Nurse Leadership Interview Essay
theory of change
Cultural competence/diversity—our hospital has a sizable subset of Pilipino nurses (male and female) as well as a sizable Philipino patient population. She embraces the Filipino perspective while providing good patient care. Additionally, she ensures that the management team reflects the Filipino perspective/culture.
labor relations management—she has an extremely positive working connection with all union leaders. She attends monthly union check-in meetings and is receptive to all comments. She is routinely contacted by union leaders to discuss and resolve issues as they arise.
models of leadership,
theory of management,
If she loses focus or motivation, she will take time for herself, grab her “work notebook,” and “challenge herself.” She asks herself what her “Why” is and writes it down to think on later. She can review her previous papers to gain insight into her previous problems and opinions. This enables her to refocus and regain her motivation. She also recommends this to her peers, whom she believes have lost their enthusiasm for healthcare.
Competencies for the Nurse of the Future
Interprofessional collaboration- This is a new job within the organization, and the incumbent is very receptive to cooperating with others in a similar position. The management of Covid-19 is an excellent example of interprofessional teamwork. She has collaborated with various local hospitals and community leaders and continues to do so. Additionally, there was close coordination with members from the Nevada Hospital Association, the Southern Nevada Health District, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
team building- It took her some time to acclimate to her new responsibility and she initially felt overwhelmed. She was initially hesitant to attend several of the nurse managers for lunch in the cafeteria due to her hectic schedule, but quickly recognized it was an ideal opportunity to meet/interact with her superiors in a casual situation. This aided in the development of connections and trust.
Several years ago, the organization’s Chief Nursing Officer implemented the ASCEND program. Department supervisors asked several employees from throughout the organization to participate in this team building exercise. They meet three times a year for a two-day group experience that combines fun and study.
Throughout the Covid-19 epidemic, she has observed a strong bonding inside our organization.
